Moonspell, Gothic-Meilensteine und Black-Metal-Ikonen: Die neue Legacy-Ausgabe #162 versammelt eine beeindruckende Bandbreite an Szenegrößen, historischen Rückblicken und aktuellen Veröffentlichungen. Im Zentrum steht eine umfangreiche Titelstory zu Moonspell, in der Frontmann Fernando Ribeiro einmal mehr als reflektierter, pointierter Gesprächspartner überzeugt. Gemeinsam mit seinen Bandkollegen, dem zuständigen Produzenten sowie Cover-Künstler Eliran Kantor entsteht ein vielschichtiges Bild der Band zwischen Underdog-Mentalität, Romantik und philosophischem Anspruch. Besonderes Highlight: Der Ausgabe liegt eine exklusive Moonspell-CD mit Joy-Division-Cover bei. Ebenfalls tief in die Szene-Geschichte führt die große Darkthrone-Story mit Fenriz, die nicht nur Einblicke in das Schaffen der norwegischen Kultband liefert, sondern auch zahlreiche Album-Tipps bereithält und die Entwicklung des Black Metal aus erster Hand nachzeichnet.

Mit Blick auf die Gegenwart und Zukunft des Genres widmet sich Legacy #162 ausführlich Dimmu Borgir (im Anschluss an die Konferenzschaltung mit Nergal von Behemoth und Shagrath in der Ausgabe 161): Gitarrist Silenoz spricht über Weiterentwicklung, Selbstoptimierung und die Kunst, über Jahrzehnte relevant zu bleiben. Wer Symphonic Black Metal liebt, wird außerdem jubeln, denn es findet sich auch eine große Story zum Comeback der englisch-walisischen Heroen Hecate Enthroned. LEGACY #162:

Moonspell, Gothic milestones and Black Metal icons: the new Legacy issue #162 brings together an impressive spectrum of scene heavyweights, historical retrospectives and current releases. At its core stands an extensive cover story on Moonspell, with frontman Fernando Ribeiro once again proving to be a thoughtful and incisive interview partner. Alongside his bandmates, the album’s producer and cover artist Eliran Kantor, a richly layered portrait emerges – balancing underdog spirit, romanticism and philosophical depth. A special highlight: this issue includes an exclusive Moonspell CD featuring a rare Joy Division cover version. In addition, Legacy spoke with Fernando about what it means in 2026 to run a Metal label – Alma Mater – and the challenges that come with it. Essential reading for anyone aspiring to shape the scene from within.

A significant historical perspective is offered by the 35th anniversary of “Gothic” by Paradise Lost. Guitarist Greg Mackintosh reflects on the early days of an album that lent its name to an entire subgenre – yet was far from being universally understood at the time.
